Songs of Experience from U2

Wow. I can not think of a better album to start my weekly featured album segment. Releasing in 2017, this album is made as a follow up to U2's Songs of Innocence (2014). It is described as a collection of letters written by U2's lead singer, Bono, about people and places that have a deep emotional connection to him. That emotion comes through even just in the first track "Love is all We Have Left". It is a very soft-synth heavy song, and opens the album with a very powerful statement with repetition of the phrase and title's namesake, "Love is all we have left." The album continues to evolve and every song is something new and different so a complete listening of the album doesn't get stale. That being said, the concept of the album being a collection of letters helps the continuity of the album and prevents it from sounding like pressing shuffle on spotify, which is a problem I find increasingly prevalent in today's music. Since receiving this album, it has been a go to CD (yes I still use CDs) in my car. I am finding it very hard to get tired of listening to this album and I would absolutely recommend giving this album a listen some time this week.
